Creatures in Clay: Exploring Pottery and Animal Artistry with Charlie Tefft

Materials and Tools

Students Bring:

  • Sure form

  • Roller

  • Brush to apply slip or magic water

  • Ruler

  • Toothed rib or other scratching tool

  • Needle tool

  • Hole cutter (van gilder)

  • Metal rib

  • Rubber ribs

  • Makeup sponge

  • Respirator or mask

  • Rubber gloves

  • Safety glasses

  • Ear protection

  • Large plastic scraper

  • Veggie peeler

  • Orbital hand sander, if you have one

  • X-acto knife

  • Computer Paper

  • Mechanical Pencil

  • Brushes for painting

    • 3 different sizes.  You will want a line brush, a medium size, and a larger size.  If you have a few brushes, bring them.  The liner is important and you will want to make sure you have one of those for sure.  If you have a collection, bring them.  Each brush has the ability to make a certain type of mark.  We will experiment and see what we can come up with!
