Sculpting Emotive Animals with Katie Maloney

May 31st-June 2nd 10am-5pm

Materials and Tools

Students Bring:

  • Images of animals to sculpt. Multiple angles and positions are recommended (wifi is also available in the studio)

  • Sketchbook

  • Wooden Rib (bring a couple different sizes and shapes if you have them)

  • Mudtools small “green” or “yellow” rib (or any stiff small plastic rib, additional sizes are good to bring too)

  • Needle Tool

  • Cut off wire

  • Serrated rib

  • Sureform or Mudtools rasp

  • Fettling knife

  • Wooden modeling tool

  • Small wire loop trimming tool

  • 2 Paintbrushes, small detail brush and larger bush for applying water

  • Small sponge

  • Thin plastic to cover work

  • Box and packing material to transport finished sculptures

  • Bagged lunch (coffee and lite snacks provided)

Optional:

  • Work apron

  • Banding wheel or turn table

  • Wooden Paddle

Katie Will Provide:

  • Mid Fire Stoneware Clay

  • Slip and Oxide Washes for decoration

  • Extra sculpting tools to fill in the gaps

  • Informative handouts
