It Takes Two: Hand Built Sets with Liz Zlot Summerfield

Materials and Tools

Students Bring:

Links provided but feel free to source anywhere

  • Scissors, pencil, eraser, ruler, notebook, masking tape

  • X-acto Knife (or your favorite knife)

  • Needle tool

  • Mudtools “Yellow” Rubber Rib (or any rubber rib)

  • Large rolling pin with bearings

    Rubber brayer (or pony roller)

  • Small, lidded container (for construction slip)

  • Slip trailer with fine metal tip (bring your favorite)

  • Turn table (or banding wheel)

  • Favorite texture makers - bisque or rubber stamps, found objects, fabric

  • Thin plastic to cover work

  • Box and bubble wrap to transport finished work

  • Bagged lunch (coffee and lite snacks provided)

    Optional:

  • Work apron

  • Clean Mud Mat (very useful if you plan to continue to hand build)

  • Clay Shredder

  • Beveling Tool

Liz Will Provide:

  • Cone 6 Stoneware Clay

  • Slip (for slip trailing)

  • Stenciling Materials

  • Informative hand-outs

  • Graph Paper for patterns

  • Kanthal Wire
